Travel Journal: Exploring and Unwinding at Royal Maxim Palace Kempinski

 AD, Travel, Vintage,

In our final days in Cairo, we ventured into the vibrant district of New Cairo, a modern contrast to the city’s historic charm. With sleek apartment buildings, sprawling malls, and bustling new developments, it was a refreshing change of pace from the classic sights of the city.

We chose the Royal Maxim Palace Kempinski as our base for relaxation, soaking up the Egyptian sun before heading back to the cooler autumn in Europe. The hotel itself is stunning, with a grand entrance, top-notch facilities, diverse dining options, and a welcoming staff eager to make our stay special. The reception was incredibly warm, and after a brief introduction to the hotel, we made our way to our beautiful suite. The space featured a spacious living room, a cozy bedroom with a plush bed overlooking the pool, and a large, luxurious bathroom. Awaiting us in the suite was a delightful surprise: an assortment of delicious sweets and nuts, artfully presented in a solid chocolate display—an indulgent treat!

After settling in and unpacking, we kicked off our stay with dinner at Romanov steakhouse. The meal was exquisite and set a perfect tone for the days ahead. The next morning, we indulged in the hotel’s breakfast, which offered an incredible variety of both sweet and savory delights. We lingered at our table by the window, savoring the meal as the morning sun streamed in.Refreshed and ready for more exploring, we visited the historic Citadel of Cairo. The visit was a fascinating dive into the city’s rich history, offering panoramic views of Cairo’s skyline.

Upon returning to the hotel, we enjoyed light bites and refreshing drinks in the Lounge before retreating to the sun-drenched poolside with our books and music.Later in the afternoon, we treated ourselves to a couples’ massage at the spa—a perfect way to unwind after a day of exploration. The soothing atmosphere and expert masseuses left us feeling rejuvenated. That evening, we experienced Sushi Night at YANA, where our attentive waiter served up a variety of creative rolls and expertly crafted drinks. The ambiance was vibrant, and it made for a perfect end to a memorable day.

The next morning, we opted for a leisurely in-room breakfast, taking our time over delicious dishes, fresh juices, and coffee while enjoying relaxed conversation. Afterward, we headed back to the stunning pool for one last swim before enjoying an incredible lunch at Lucca. Our friendly waiter made sure we had a fantastic time, and the authentic Italian dishes paired perfectly with a glass of wine—an ideal way to wrap up our stay. With full hearts and a suitcase of memories, we took a short drive to the airport that afternoon, ready to fly back to Copenhagen.

Our time at the Royal Maxim Kempinski was everything we hoped for—a perfect mix of city exploration, sun-soaked relaxation, delectable food, and impeccable service. We left knowing we had found a new favorite spot in Cairo and can’t wait to return for more unforgettable experiences. Until next time!
