Our journey began with a smooth pickup at Dar El Bacha—the entrance to the Dar El Bacha Museum—where we were led through narrow alleyways to the doors of Tarabel. The moment we stepped inside, it felt like another world. The chaos of the city disappeared instantly, replaced by a serene, peaceful atmosphere. Inside, you’ll find lush greenery, fountains, and intimate courtyards connected by cool stone paths lined with trees. A rooftop terrace offers the perfect spot to soak up the sun, relax, and admire sweeping views of the Medina and the distant Atlas Mountains. Step outside, and you’re immediately immersed in the vibrant energy of Marrakech. Step back inside, and you’re wrapped in tranquility. Tarabel truly feels like a sanctuary.

The moment we arrived, we were warmly greeted by Laura, the riad’s manager. She was incredibly kind and welcoming, and to my surprise, she even spoke Portuguese after living many years in Brazil. We had such wonderful conversations with her. Laura gave us a complete tour of the property and went above and beyond to create a thoughtful itinerary for our stay. She was attentive to every detail, making sure we enjoyed each moment—Tarabel truly is all about the small touches that make a big difference.

One of the best things about Tarabel is its location. It’s ideally situated near Marrakech’s must-see sights, but just far enough from the busiest areas to feel peaceful. Iconic landmarks like Jemaa el-Fnaa, the Koutoubia Mosque, and Medersa Ben Youssef are all within walking distance. Whether you’re wandering through souks, getting lost in the Medina’s maze of streets, or soaking up the energy of the marketplace, you’ll always return to the calm refuge of Tarabel.

From the moment we arrived, the hospitality was impeccable. Our stay was made even more special by Hassan, who quickly became a friend. He took time to share insights about local traditions, culture, and daily life in Marrakech, making us feel not only welcome but also connected to the city. One of the highlights was a private dinner prepared by the riad. Seated in a candlelit courtyard with soft Moroccan music in the background, we savored flavorful tagines, couscous, and homemade ice cream. Hassan explained the cultural significance of each dish, which made the experience even more meaningful. It was a night that felt both intimate and unforgettable.

Every morning began with breakfast on the rooftop terrace, basking in the sunshine with views of golden rooftops, the Medina below, and the Atlas Mountains beyond. The spread included Moroccan pastries, fresh juices, and traditional msemmen (Moroccan flatbread). It was the perfect start before heading out to explore.

Tarabel is not just a place to stay—it’s an experience. Every element feels thoughtfully curated, from mosaic floors to arched windows that let in the soft, golden light. The pool, surrounded by lush gardens, is another serene retreat. After a day of exploring the Medina in Marrakech’s heat, nothing beats floating in the cool water or lounging poolside with a book. Staying in a riad is essential to truly experiencing Marrakech, and Tarabel stands out as one of the very best. The combination of luxury, authenticity, and comfort makes it unforgettable.

While we loved every moment at Tarabel, we also made sure to explore the city. Just a short walk away, the Dar El Bacha Museum offered a glimpse into Marrakech’s opulent past, once the palace of a wealthy nobleman and now a showcase of Moroccan architecture. Nearby, Bacha Coffee served one of the most exquisite cups of coffee we’ve ever had. The Medersa Ben Youssef, one of the largest and most important Islamic schools in Morocco, impressed us with its intricate design and peaceful courtyards. Jardin Majorelle, once owned by Yves Saint Laurent, was another highlight—a vibrant oasis of cobalt blue walls, tropical plants, and quiet pathways. And of course, no trip to Marrakech is complete without getting lost in the Medina and experiencing Jemaa el-Fnaa, the city’s famous square that comes alive at night with food stalls, performers, and glowing lanterns. The Koutoubia Mosque, with its towering 77-meter minaret dominating the skyline, was another breathtaking sight, even just from the gardens outside.
