Paris rewards those who dine with intention. Around the Opéra district and the Right Bank, a compelling mix of historic institutions, design-forward hotel restaurants, and lively social dining spots awaits. This guide brings together five standout tables we had the pleasure of visiting on our last trip to Paris, each offering its own perspective on modern Parisian food culture.
Café de La Paix

If Paris had a culinary time capsule, it would look like Café de la Paix. Opened in 1862 and facing the Opéra Garnier, this gilded institution has long embodied Parisian elegance and cultural life.
Inside, the lavish Napoleon III décor, coffered ceilings and intricate gold detailing, sets the tone for a menu rooted firmly in French classics: onion soup, sole meunière, foie gras, and pristine seafood. This was our second visit, this time for lunch, and experiencing the space filled with soft daylight added an entirely new dimension to the meal. The natural light, combined with the grandeur of the room, elevates the whole experience beyond just dining.
The team is warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming, making the visit feel as effortless as it is memorable.
Come here for:
-
A quintessential Parisian experience
-
Long, leisurely lunches or post-opera dinners
-
Iconic desserts like caramelized millefeuille or crème brûlée
This is less about reinvention and more about the art of perfecting tradition.

Le Patio Opéra

Le Patio Opéra offers a quieter, more intimate counterpoint to the grandeur nearby. Tucked away from the boulevard energy, it leans into a refined yet relaxed atmosphere, often centered around a leafy courtyard setting.
Come here for:
-
Contemporary French cuisine with seasonal touches
-
A calmer, more neighborhood feel
-
Date nights or low-key dinners
It’s the kind of place Parisians go when they want something elegant, without ceremony.
Mesa (HOY Paris)

Set inside HOY Paris, MESA brings a completely different energy to the city’s dining scene, one that feels calm, intentional, and deeply rooted in well-being. This is not your typical Parisian restaurant experience, but that’s exactly the point.
Centered around plant-based cuisine, the menu is thoughtful and expressive, highlighting seasonal ingredients through beautifully composed dishes that feel as nourishing as they are refined. Each plate is designed with balance in mind: flavor, texture, and presentation coming together in a way that feels both modern and mindful.
The space itself mirrors this philosophy: soft light, natural materials, and a serene atmosphere that invites you to slow down and truly enjoy the moment. It’s the kind of place where dining becomes more than just eating, it’s a pause from the pace of the city.
Come here for:
-
A refined, plant-based dining experience
-
A calm, design-led atmosphere
-
A different perspective on Parisian cuisine
MESA is where Paris feels softer, slower, and quietly innovative.

Chouchou Restaurant

Inside the playful Hôtel Chouchou, this “guinguette”-style restaurant channels convivial, old-school French dining with a modern twist.
Think long wooden tables, shared plates, and a menu built around seasonal produce, charcuterie, cheeses, and seafood.
Come here for:
-
A festive, social atmosphere
-
Weekend feasts with roast chicken and generous spreads
-
A hybrid between food market and restaurant
It’s casual, loud, and very Parisian, just not in the way you might expect. We LOVED it!
The Kitchen at Madame Rêve

Set inside Hôtel Madame Rêve, Kitchen reimagines the spirit of the great Parisian cafés of the Belle Époque, brought to life in a striking space with soaring eight-meter-high ceilings and a vibrant, open atmosphere.
Designed to be enjoyed throughout the day, the restaurant moves effortlessly from breakfast and coffee to long lunches, afterwork drinks, and refined dinners. It’s a place that adapts to your rhythm, whether you’re stopping by for something light or settling in for a full dining experience.
The menu focuses on contemporary French cuisine, balancing precision, bold flavors, and modern touches without ever losing sight of taste. Expect elevated classics like croque Madame, truffle pasta, seafood dishes, and beautifully executed plates that feel both familiar and refined.
We visited for happy hour, sampling a selection of small plates and drinks, and loved how effortlessly chic yet relaxed the atmosphere felt, exactly the kind of place you linger longer than planned.
Come here for:
-
Stylish all-day dining, from breakfast to dinner
-
Afterwork drinks and light bites
-
A chic yet relaxed Parisian café experience
Kitchen at Madame Rêve captures a very modern kind of Paris, where tradition is reinterpreted with ease, and every moment of the day feels worth savoring.

Montecito Paris

A forever favorite and a place we genuinely love coming back to. At the Kimpton St Honoré, Montecito flips the script on traditional Parisian dining. This is Paris with a California accent: playful, social, and just the right amount of irreverent.
The menu blends French ingredients with global influences, from fish tacos to truffle pizzetta and vibrant sharing plates designed for the table. Here, the atmosphere is just as important as the food, with lively brunches and a buzzing, event-driven energy that carries into the evening.
Come here for:
-
A fun, high-energy dinner
-
Group dining and cocktails
-
A refreshing break from traditional French formality
This is where Paris loosens its collar—and has a little fun.
