There is a particular ease that arrives with summer: the moment clothes begin to feel less like something to think about and more like something to inhabit. A linen shirt creases in the heat. Silk moves with the body. A bare shoulder catches the afternoon light. For Spring Summer 2027, HERSKIND builds a collection around precisely this kind of quiet confidence: sensual, instinctive and entirely unforced.
The idea came to life on the runway during Copenhagen Fashion Week, transformed into a gallery of classical sculptures. Elevated on raw wooden plinths, the figures stood frozen in their idealised forms as the first models entered the space. Suddenly, the room was no longer still. Fluid fabrics shifted around the body, sheer layers caught the light and softened tailoring moved through the gallery. Between the statues and the women, the distinction began to blur.
It was a fitting setting for a collection concerned with the body, not as something to be observed, but as something that moves, lives and expresses itself. That tension between stillness and movement runs throughout HERSKIND SS27. Tailoring, long a foundation of the HERSKIND wardrobe, is loosened and lightened. Clean lines remain, but structure is allowed to soften. Crisp linen, washed silk, cotton and fluid jersey are joined by weightless cashmere, each fabric chosen as much for its movement and tactility as its appearance. The clothes crease, shift and soften with wear, acquiring something personal along the way.
Transparency adds another layer of intimacy. Organza floats across the body; satin follows the skin; sheer layers reveal just enough. Sensuality is never announced. It appears in an open back, a bare shoulder, the glimpse beneath a translucent layer, or simply in the feeling of air against skin.
Dresses take the lead, fluid and feminine without losing the understated strength at the heart of the collection. Elsewhere, denim, leather and relaxed tailoring bring a sharper edge, keeping the wardrobe grounded in the everyday. Layering is instinctive rather than prescriptive, something slipped on, undone or rearranged according to the moment.
The palette feels as though it has been left outside in the sun. Chalky white, warm sand, soft khaki, earthy brown and deep black form the foundation, punctuated by pale olive, vanilla, washed blue and clear aqua. Together, the colours recall limestone, sea and long summer afternoons when everything seems slightly softened by light.
The show reaches its conclusion with Madonna’s Danceteria and its simple declaration: “Everyone here is a work of art.” Among the classical figures, the words take on another meaning. The sculptures represent an ideal preserved in time; the women moving around them are anything but fixed. They are individual, imperfect, alive and continually changing.
That feels like the essence of HERSKIND’s SS27 woman. She isn’t dressing for approval, or performing an idea of who she should be. She chooses intuitively. She knows when to leave something undone, when to reveal and when to conceal. Her confidence is felt rather than displayed.
This is summer dressing stripped back to its most compelling form: clothes that move, breathe and become more beautiful through living in them. Less about making an entrance than knowing exactly how you want to feel when you arrive.
