CPHFW SS23: Malaikaraiss

 Vintage,

En route between Copenhagen and the Mediterranean Malaikas self-created paradise can be found. The full spectrum of off-white shades reminiscing of linen, raffia and buttercream. Supported by a vibrant Yves Klein blue, deep purple all the way to pistacchio, lime tones and midnight black, glossy liquorice. The primarily sustainable fabrics like linen, Tencel, Ecovero and recycled silk carry a mediterranean lightness with them. They are supplemented by 3D-surfaces like a unique floral crochet and Fil Coupé as well as an abstract Zebra-Jacquard.The iconic suits are now changing from classic Italian suit wool to an innovative fiber: “TENOWA” derived from deadstock fabrics.Body-conscious silhouettes cover the curves with ease and are completed by airy and casual layerings und maxi dresses. In collaboration with Berlin artist Anna Zimmermann, once again multiple artworks have been created which now garnish the garments and Carrée-scarves. The new motifs “Love won’t tear us apart” and “Beach Ladies” were created during a shared trip to beautiful Mallorca. This journeys last stop brought Malaika to Marrakech, where she let herself be inspired by the forms and techniques of traditional brass-artisans and colorful glassworks. The resulting gold-plated jewelry is manufactured in Germany. The glass pearl designs, made from Czech beads, are hand made in Europe. The collection was presented in a guerilla-style outdoor show at a location dear to Copenhagenites heart – the plaza of Marmorkirken in the center of the city. Beautiful!
