A obra, baseada em romance homônimo,  provocou polêmica após seu lançamento em 1996, por motivos de alegações de que o mesmo promovia o uso de drogas. Críticas, quem seríamos nós sem elas, não é? Porque Trainspotting foi aclamado como uma obra de bastante valor e em 2004 escolhido pelo The New York Times como um dos mil melhores filmes já produzidos.

O filme de Danny Boyle conta a historia de Renton, Spud, Sick Boy e Begbie, um grupo de jovens viciados em heroína, de Edimburgo, na Escócia. O filme é cheio de referências e tem uma trilha sonora incrível, que tem Iggy Pop, Lou Reed como nomes principais.
