Well, well, well, I am alive people! If you were missing my posts lately I can explain: I am having my internship right now in Brazil, which means I am in a busy period and only have weekends free, so… During these days I am enjoying some short trips around South America. Last weekend I went to Jericoacoara, a small, almost forgotten paradise in North East of Brazil. The place is a small fishing village and now also a mecca windsurfers and kitesurfers. The town is in my home state, Ceará, around 300 km North West of Fortaleza. Jeri, as it is better known, is the kind of idyllic place where many travelers end up staying longer than originally planned and some people even decide to stay forever. Jeri is a place where it is impossible not to relax whether you are walking on the streets paved with sand, eating in one of the original restaurants or enjoying the amazing beaches with giant dunes streching as far as the eye can see. Up until 20 years ago, Jericoacoara was a simple fishing village with no roads, electricity, phones, TV’s or newspapers while money was rarely used. Today the small village is full of surfers and “gringos” (Brazilian nickname for foreigners) from all the world. In our days in this amazing paradise we stayed in the exotic hotel “Pousada Carcará”. The experience there was unique, especially because of the cool atmosphere and nice service. The staff was just amazing and we had a very warm reception with some bubbles to enjoy in a nice hammock… Mmmmm! Jeri never disappoints you!
The facade of the hotel is so unique and exotic, they preserved the original form of the old houses in the village, which I think give us guests the feeling of being part of the village, experiencing everything. In the village, there are several options to choose big modern hotels, but in my view this is not the point when going to Jeri. For me it is about getting that full experience of the village and I highly recommend Pousada Carcará if you look for an authentic experience where you can feel the real soul of this paradise. The vibe there is just amazing!
Ps: This is just the first post about this cool trip.
Stay tuned, more cool pictures are coming!
