Last sunday I decided to finally visit the Yayoi Kusama exhibition at Louisiana Museum in Denmark. I have been talking about going there since August last year, so it was about time! If you love Andy Warhol and pop art, like me, you definitely need to know Kusama’s work. She is a Japanese artist and writer. Throughout her career she has worked in a wide variety of media, including painting, collage, scat sculpture, performance art, and environmental installations, most of which exhibit her thematic interest in psychedelic colours (which makes me fall in love with her), repetition and pattern. It can easily be argued that she is a precursor to the pop art, minimalist and feminist art movements. This is clearly expressed in each detail from her exhibition. With the name “In infinity”, the exhibition takes your breath away from the beginning and absorbs you into a completely new universe. I believe that Kusama is an artist who gets her inspiration from an inner reality where fantasies of infinity and dizzying psychological spaces evolve and allows you to escape from your ego. So if you wanna dive in this universe of brightly coloured, sprawling patterns, paintings and sculptures, come with me, let’s have an adventure in Kusama’s World!

No último domingo, decidi finalmente visitar a exposição de Yayoi Kusama no Louisiana Museum, na Dinamarca. Eu tenho falado sobre ir para essa exposição desde agosto do ano passado, por isso já era hora de ir, né gente? Se você ama Andy Warhol e arte pop, como eu, você definitivamente precisa conhecer a obra de Kusama. Ela é uma artista japonesa e escritora. Ao longo de sua carreira, ela trabalhou em vários meios, incluindo pintura, colagem, escultura, arte performática e instalações ambientais, a maioria das quais exibem seu interesse temático em cores psicodélicas (o que faz me apaixonar ainda mais por ela). Pode-se facilmente argumentar que ela é uma precursora da arte pop, movimentos de arte minimalista e feministas. Isso é claramente expresso em cada detalhe de sua exposição. Com o nome “Em infinito”, a exposição é de tirar o fôlego desde o início e tem a capacidade de absorver você em um universo completamente novo. Eu acredito que Kusama é uma artista que recebe sua inspiração a partir de uma realidade interior, onde as fantasias infinitas e espaços psicológicos evoluem e permitem você escapar de seu ego.
