It’s the week of my birthday! Yaaaay! My celebration started early this year with some amazing days in Berlin. We had the pleasure to make the glorious Hotel Adlon Kempinski our home for a couple of days. And what a home!
The Hotel Adlon Kempinski is located in the very heart of Berlin and the feeling you get from seeing the sun rise and set over the iconic Brandenburger Tor from your balcony is simply priceless! When staying in a five-star hotel you always arrive with high expectations, but from the moment we entered the hotel until we (unfortunately) had to leave again these expectations were greatly exceeded. The hotel is astonishingly beautiful and elegant, the location is the best and the service level is out of this world and the combination of it all made our days in Berlin truly memorable!
Before our arrival we were asked different questions, so the hotel staff could make the arrival as pleasant as possible. In the beautiful lobby we were met by a warm welcome and with all the information we needed. When we were shown our room we just looked to each other and said: “WOW!”. The hotel decoration is classic, luxurious and each room has its peculiarities and the view from the balcony is really something else, simply stunning!
In the room we were met by a lovely surprise as there was a really big bowl full of a great variety of fresh, delicious fruits, an ice cold bottle of champagne and, to top it all, this miniature chocolate version of the Brandenburger Tor. It was a little hard to break it into smaller pieces because the gesture was so cute, but I have to admit that the chocolate was even more delicious than it looks!
During our days in Berlin we were not completely fortunate with the weather, as one of days was full of rain and even thunder, but when you stay at Hotel Adlon Kempinski there is always a light at the end of the tunnel. The hours of bad weather allowed us to spend a little extra time at the fantastic breakfast buffet, which has great service and an astonishing selection – you can really get whatever your heart desires! And we were lucky enough to get a little bonus Berliner pastry to bring for an afternoon snack. So delicious!
In the rain we also enjoyed the opportunity to enjoy the relaxing spa area of the hotel, where we one morning were lucky enough to have the whole area for ourselves so we had the perfect start to the day with Jacuzzi and sauna.
I have to admit the hotel made me feel like a princess. My husband and I had the most amazing days and all we can say is that we love every single minute of our stay. The hotel has three restaurants and we had the chance to try two of them, Quarré and Sra Bua, (more on this in the following posts) and two-starred Michelin restaurant Lorenz Adlon Esszimmer. All I will say for now is that, based on our excellent experiences in the restaurants we tried, we really need try this one next time we visit.
If you want nothing but the best when you visit Berlin, I highly recommend Hotel Adlon, I guarantee that you will be positively surprised and feel at home from the moment you step inside. The staff is amazing and we even made a couple of friends, for example the waiter Stefan, who even gave to us this cute goodbye present on the last day there and I have to say it was such a nice gesture. We felt so happy while staying at Adlon and we would easily give more than 5 stars to the hotel, it is like an amazing parallel world in the middle of the city.
