The iconic Radisson Collection Royal in Copenhagen

 AD, Design, Hotel,

In early December, we were invited to experience a wonderful staycation in one of the most iconic hotels of Copenhagen. Radisson Collection Royal Hotel is in many ways a pioneer. It is the world’s first designer hotel and the only one designed by the famous designer and architect Arne Jacobsen, making it the true home of Danish modernism.

It was built all the way back in 1960, yet it still dominates the Copenhagen skyline, and the interior still impresses to this day. The recent renovation of the hotel pays tribute to the legacy of Arne Jacobsen, and it shows in every detail from the moment you enter the lobby. The original chairs, the Swan, the Egg, and the Pot, are newly upholstered throughout the building and complete a truly historic atmosphere.

We stayed in one of their 5 exclusive signature suites. The Cecilie Manz Suite adopts a colour scheme of pink, white and pale grey blended with natural wood, which is so beautiful! Plus, the views of Copenhagen from our suite were absolutely spectacular. We just wanted to move in!

The hotel is in the city center just a few steps from Tivoli, City Hall and the Central station, which makes it just the perfect location to explore Copenhagen.

The night we arrived, we had the pleasure to visit their restaurant, Issei, which is an elegant fusion between the Japanese and Peruvian cuisine. We were treated with an excellent tasting menu along with some delicious drinks. The menu was full of interesting and tasty dishes. For starters we had the best Patacones, followed by Salmon Tataki and Ceviche + a delicious main course and ending with the classical sweet rice dessert. Everything was so good, and we had such a fun evening at Issei.

After a good night’s sleep in our comfortable bed, we woke up for the beautiful sunrise over Copenhagen city and decided that it was a perfect morning for a walk around the lakes in Nørrebro. It does not happen that often, but this morning the lakes were completely frozen, which created a nice Christmassy feeling to begin December. Following the cold, but beautiful walk, we were ready to get some heat back in the body, so we headed down for the excellent breakfast buffet to have a nice cup of coffee and a good variety of pastries, fruits, and savory items that left us fully satisfied.

Our first time in Radisson Hotel Royal Collection was amazing and since we visited in December, the hotel was fully decorated for Christmas, which only made our stay more cosy and really put us in to the Christmas spirit. We can wait to visit again and create more memories.
