The incredible Maison Dedine

 AD, Travel,

When we travel, we are always interested in seeing new countries and cities, but sometimes hotels are destinations in themselves, Maison Dedine in Tunis is one of these places. Maison Dedine bears the name of its owner, the late Saad Eddine Sinaoui, professor and son of a Sheikh of the Great Zitouna Mosque of Tunis, his hometown. A painter and sailor in his spare time, he himself designed the architecture of this house, which is almost placed on the sea like a ship. He built it stone by stone over seven long years on the side of his muse village, Sidi Bou Said. It faces the Bay of Tunis, one of the most beautiful bays in the Mediterranean. It is his signature you will find in every detail of this Boutique Hotel, where each of the rooms bears the name of a member of his family to whom he was deeply attached. Forty years later, his daughter-in-law added an artistic touch imbued with modernity while respecting the original structure of this exceptional residence.

The hotel is part of the Small Luxury Hotels in the World and its location in Sidi Bou Said is excellent. It is probably one of the most charming areas in Tunis, we loved exploring it! The bright mix of blue and white and exceptional views was truly inspiring! We were also only a few minutes from Carthage, where you can find the Ancient Carthage and later Roman Carthage ruins. So much history!

The hotel itself is also full of history and is packed with stunning interior that makes the creative thoughts flow, simply inspiring. The rooms feature refined decoration and exceptional comfort, in addition to their striking view to the Mediterranean Sea. In the morning when you open the curtain and see the beautiful blue water, it really feels like being on a boat where everything is an invitation to be inspired by the beauty of Tunis.

Maison Dedine has an amazing, large rooftop and where we went to enjoy some drinks surrounded by the breathtaking panorama view, which feels like being suspended between sky and sea. The four terraces each offer a different viewpoint of the landscape, amazing and unique! Another part of the hotel that we loved is the Salon Cheminée and the Espace Mediterrane, and of course the amazing infinity pool facing the sea.

In the mornings, we were treated with the most fresh and delicious breakfast. I must say that it was a unique experience since we could enjoy Maison Dedine’s best dishes and excellent drinks at a private table facing the water.

We had the best days and left with a strong wish to return and spend more days in this magical place.
