The legendary Park Hyatt Tokyo

When in Tokyo you of course need to visit the legendary Park Hyatt hotel in Shinjuku, which has been immortalised by Bob and Charlotte in the excellent Sofia Coppola movie, Lost in Translation. We have watched the movie several times, even in the flight on the way to Tokyo, so it was very fun to walk the same places as we have seen in the movie.

The hotel oozes class and a high service level from the moment you enter. We got a very nice room with the most comfortable bed on the 43rd floor and excellent views of the city. The day we arrived, it was unfortunately raining quite a lot, so we came up with a good plan to get the most out of the time and decided to go the excellent spa facilities. There are two floors, one with separated spa facilities for men and women and one with a beautiful pool area and fitness room. We spent some great hours there while waiting for the rain to stop.

After the rain had stopped, we went to the Akhihabara area to experience the crazy lights and took the chance to visit one of the famous arcades, where we could rock our dance moves on the Dance Dance Revolution game. It was so much fun even if we did not perfect the moves, haha!

The next morning, we went early to the Meiji Jingu shrine, which was an incredible spiritual experience that gave encouragement for some reflection, while we also could make a wish for the future. The place is only a little more than 10-minutes from Park Hyatt, so it was perfect for a morning walk before the city woke up.

When we returned, we went to have an amazing breakfast. We got a table next to the window and with the beautiful lights from the morning sun and nice city views, it was a special experience. I am a big fan of Eggs Benedict and I have to say that the one we had in Park Hyatt Tokyo was one of the best I have tried. In fact, everything we tasted in the breakfast spread was of the highest quality.

It was an incredible and fun stay. We had a perfect time there and hope to return in the future and hopefully also have time to visit the legendary New York Bar and Grill rooftop, see you next time Park Hyatt!
