Travel Journal: A Magical First Visit to Egypt

 AD, Travel,

Our adventure in Egypt began with our stay at the luxurious Four Seasons Cairo at First Residence. Despite a delayed flight due to weather, our arrival couldn’t have been more welcoming. The hotel greeted us with a warm reception, and our suite was prepared with a delightful spread of fresh fruits, sweets, and an assortment of beverages. After a long journey from Copenhagen, arriving in the late afternoon, it was the perfect way to unwind.

We were lucky to stay in an exquisite suite, complete with a spacious bedroom, a walk-in closet, and not one but two bathrooms. The living room was stunning, but the real showstopper was the panoramic view of both the Nile and the Pyramids—talk about a breathtaking sight! That first night, we decided to take it easy, soaking in the comfort of the hotel and building excitement for our visit to the Pyramids the next day.

One of the best things about the Four Seasons at First Residence is its proximity to the Great Pyramid of Giza and the Sphinx. It’s just a 20-25 minute drive, making it an ideal base for exploring these ancient wonders—especially if you head out early to beat the infamous Cairo traffic, which is in a league of its own!

After a perfect night’s sleep, we set out bright and early for a guided tour of the Pyramids. Arriving ahead of the crowds, we had an awe-inspiring experience standing beside these incredible ancient structures. Our guide painted vivid pictures of Egypt’s storied past, sharing fascinating theories about how the Pyramids were built—an unforgettable moment in front of one of history’s greatest mysteries. Returning to the hotel, we treated ourselves to an excellent in-room breakfast, savoring a spread of international and local treats, fresh juice, and coffee. As we enjoyed the serene setting, we reflected on our remarkable morning and felt a sense of pure contentment. That afternoon, I indulged in an in-room massage from the sweetest masseuse, whose expert touch left me feeling rejuvenated. Her warmth and skill made it one of the best massages I’ve ever had—a true highlight of our stay.

For dinner, we dined at Aura, the hotel’s Lebanese restaurant, which is set beside the pool area. The open-air atmosphere, combined with the gentle night breeze, made for a perfect evening. The food was divine, and the experience was nothing short of magical. The next morning, full of energy, we hit the hotel gym, which boasts a view of the Nile. Running on the treadmill while watching the sunrise, boats glide by, and rowers train on the river was a moment I’ll always cherish. After working up an appetite, we enjoyed a breakfast buffet with endless delicious options and the friendliest staff who put a smile on our faces for the rest of the day.

Later, we ventured out to explore the vibrant city and its warm, welcoming people. Upon returning, we spent the afternoon unwinding by the pool, reading, listening to music, and soaking in the sun.For our final night, we dined at Zoe, a restaurant set on a stationary boat on the Nile, just across from the hotel. The Mediterranean cuisine was exquisite, and the staff went above and beyond to ensure we had an unforgettable dining experience. As the sun set over the Nile, casting golden light across the water, the scene transformed into a dazzling display of colorful lights from passing boats. It was a night straight out of a dream—an absolute must for anyone visiting Cairo. Our stay at the Four Seasons Cairo at First Residence was the perfect blend of relaxation, exceptional dining, and top-notch hospitality, all in an unbeatable location for exploring Cairo and its legendary Pyramids. We left with hearts full of gratitude and minds brimming with new memories, eager to return and experience the magic of Egypt all over again.
